Michigan Ave., 19th Floor Chicago, Illinois 60603 (312) 814-2420 Illinois Department of Insurance JB PRITZKER Governor DANA POPISH SEVERINGHAUS Acting Director MEMORANDUM TO: ALL COMPANIES WRITING PRIVATE PASSENGER AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE IN ILLINOIS FROM: Dana Popish Severinghaus, Acting Director of Insurance Date: December 8, 2021 RE: Company Bulletin 2021-14 Under Public Act 102-16 each issuer is required to file with the Illinois Department of Insurance (IDOI) specific data as outlined under 20 ILCS 4005/8.6. Instructions for Submission: Before April 1 of each year, each insurer engaged in writing private passenger motor vehicle insurance coverage that is included in Class 2 and Class 3 of Section 4 of the Illinois Insurance Code shall collect and remit to the Department of Insurance an amount equal to $4 multiplied by the insurer’s total earned car years of private passenger motor vehicle insurance policies providing physical damage insurance coverage written in this State during the preceding calendar year. You may access the reporting template for submission on IDOI’s website under Companies, Bulletins, Company Bulletin 2021-14-template. Note that issuers are required to utilize this format when completing and submitting each year’s fee. An officer signature attesting to the reported exposure count is required. Submit the data as described above to the Illinois Department of Insurance, P.O. Box 7087, Springfield, Illinois 62791. To confirm receipt of payment, contact DOI.MarketConduct@illinois.gov. These requirements are pursuant to the Department’s authority under the Illinois Insurance Code, specifically 215 ILCS 5/143.10d, 215 ILCS 5/132 and 215 ILCS 5/401 to receive and examine the nonfinancial business practices, performance, and operations of any insurance company and to administer the insurance laws of Illinois. Confidentiality of the underlying data filed with the Department is preserved under 215 ILCS 5/132.5(f).
