Section 211.125  Ablative Coating " Ablative coating" means a coating that chars when exposed to open flame or extreme temperatures, as would occur during the failure of an engine casing or during aerodynamic heating.  The ablative char surface serves as an insulative barrier, protecting adjacent components from the heat or open flame.
