Tier 2 Groundwater Evaluation Overview

Section 742 Section 742.800  Tier 2 Groundwater Evaluation Overview If the contaminant concentrations in the groundwater exceed the applicable Tier 1 remediation objectives, a person has the following options: a)         Demonstrate that the groundwater ingestion exposure route is excluded from  consideration pursuant to Subpart C; b)         Demonstrate that the groundwater contamination is at or below area background concentrations in accordance with Subpart D and, if necessary, an institutional control restricting usage of the groundwater is in place in accordance with Subpart J; c)         Remediate to Tier 1 remediation objectives; d)         Propose and obtain approval of Tier 2 groundwater remediation objectives in accordance with  Section 742.805 and remediate to that level, if necessary; e)         Conduct a Tier 3 evaluation in accordance with Subpart I; or f)         Obtain approval from the Board to: 1)         Reclassify the groundwater pursuant to 35 Ill. Adm. Code 620.260; or 2)         Use an adjusted standard pursuant to Section 28.1 of the Act. [415 ILCS 5/28.1].
