Section 225.2000Â General
Requirements
a)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The facility shall provide adequate, properly trained and
supervised staff to meet each resident's comprehensive care. Services shall be
provided by a coordinated care team.
b)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The facility shall define, through job descriptions, necessary
education and experience requirements for all regular staff, consultants, and
contract staff providing services to the Alzheimer's Disease Management Center
Model.
c)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The facility shall provide an initial orientation and routine,
pertinent training to all staff.
d)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The facility shall designate a provost, whose minimum
qualifications shall include:
1)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Graduate education with degree, and with experience in health
services administration, management, providing continuing education and
in-service training, and the use of innovative assessment tools;
2)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Knowledge of the diverse manifestations of brain illnesses,
especially the Alzheimer's type; and
3)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Knowledge of basic concepts to foster and develop harmonious
relationships with understanding toward residents and personnel.
e)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â A registered nurse shall be responsible for managing the
day-to-day health needs of every resident under his/her direct care.
f)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â A registered nurse shall be on duty in the facility 24 hours
per day, seven days per week.
g)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â A registered nurse shall be designated as Supervisory Nurse,
who shall:
1)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Promote the competency, numbers, and staff levels of nursing
personnel appropriate to meet the complex needs of the persons served;
2)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Identify and implement a nursing program and structure such
that the persons served will receive coordinated services; and
3)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Provide ongoing monitoring of compliance with nursing
standards.
h)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Care managers shall be employed to organize the provision of
services to residents. Minimum qualifications shall include:
1)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Two years of experience working with individuals with
dementia; and
2)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Ability to:
A)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Prepare a comprehensive care plan with guidance;
B)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Recognize emerging conditions for each resident;
C)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Adjust the care plan to accommodate changes in a resident's
condition;
D)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Monitor the performance of care givers;
E)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Address present and future care needs of the residents; and
F)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Promote an optimal quality of life for the Alzheimer's resident.
i)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â A social worker shall be employed to direct the social
services provided by the Model.
