Supplemental Physical Plant Requirements for Assisted Living Establishments
a)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Each unit shall have a bathroom that provides privacy when in
use and that contains:
1)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â An operational toilet;
2)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â An operational sink, which may be provided in the same room as
the toilet or in an adjacent room;
3)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â A bathtub or shower (new establishments only);
4)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â A mirror, unless the resident's service plan requires
otherwise;
5)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â A means of ventilation or an operable window; and
6)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Assistive devices such as grab bars, if identified in a
resident's service plan, to provide for resident safety.
b)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Bathing facilities shall meet the following requirements:
1)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â All showers and bathtubs shall have slip-resistant surfaces;
2)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Assistive devices shall be provided if indicated by the
resident's service plan; and
3)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â All tub enclosures and showers shall be of nonporous surfaces.
4)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Shared bathing rooms shall be lockable from the inside; and
5)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â If more than one shower or bathtub is provided in a common
bathing room, privacy curtains shall be provided.
c)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Each unit
shall accommodate small kitchen appliances.
