Standards
a)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Each facility shall comply with the applicable provisions of
the following codes and standards:
1)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â State of Illinois rules
A)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Illinois Plumbing Code, Department of Public Health
B)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Illinois Accessibility Code, Capital Development Board
C)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Food Code, Department of Public Health
D)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety, Office of the State Fire
Marshal
2)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Codes and standards
A)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â NFPA 101: Life Safety Code, Chapter 18, and excluding Chapter
5, Performance Based Options, and all other references to performance-based
options. NFPA 101A: Guide on Alternative Approaches to Life Safety shall not
be allowed to establish equivalencies for new construction. In addition to the
publications referenced in Chapter 2, NFPA 99:Â Health Care Facilities shall be
applicable for all long-term care facilities.

b)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â In addition to compliance with the standards set forth herein,
all building codes, ordinances and regulations that are enforced by city,
county or other local jurisdictions in which the facility is, or will be,
located shall be observed.
c)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Where no local building code exists, the recommendations of
the International Building Code shall apply.
d)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The local building code or the recommendations of the
International Building Code shall apply insofar as its recommendations are not
in conflict with the standards set forth in this Part, or with the NFPA 101.
