Section 390.2020Â Housekeeping
a)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Every facility shall have an effective plan for housekeeping
including sufficient staff, appropriate equipment, and adequate supplies. Each
facility shall: (B)
1)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Keep the building in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
This includes all rooms, corridors, attics, basements, and storage areas. (B)
2)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Keep floors clean and as nonslip as possible, and free from
tripping hazards. Throw rugs and scatter rugs with nonslip type backings may be
utilized if they do not constitute a serious tripping hazard.
3)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Control odors within the housekeeping staff's areas of
responsibility by effective cleaning procedures and by the proper use of ventilation
systems. Deodorants shall not be used to cover up persistent odors caused by
unsanitary conditions or poor housekeeping practices.
b)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Attics, basements, stairways, and similar areas shall be kept
free of accumulations of refuse, discarded furniture, old newspapers, boxes,
discarded equipment, and other items. (B)
c)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Bathtubs, shower stalls, and lavatories shall not be used for
laundering, janitorial, or storage purposes.
d)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â All cleaning compounds, insecticides, and all other
potentially hazardous compounds or agents shall be stored in locked cabinets or
rooms. (B)
