Section 290.165 Breeding
Record of Stallion – Record of Mares Bred
a) In order for a stallion's foal to be registered as Illinois
conceived and foaled, a person offering or standing the stallion for service
shall maintain a complete breeding record of the stallion and all mares bred to
that stallion, including:
1) the name of the mare,
2) the mare's Jockey Club registration number,
3) the names and addresses, including zip code, of the owner or
owners of the mare,
4) the first and last dates on which the stallion was bred to the
mare, and
5) if the mare was pasture bred, first and last possible breeding
dates.
b) A fully completed Record of Mares Bred must be filed with the
Department by September 1 of each year. For mares bred after September 1,
immediate notification to the Department is required.
c) The Department shall impose monetary penalties, in accordance
with 230 ILCS 5/40, for incomplete and/or late filing of the Record of Mares
Bred.
