465 IAC 2-13-58 Education

Sec. 58. (a) Each child shall be given the same opportunity for education as other children in the community. (b) Children who are wards of the SDPW shall attend only public schools or private schools with appropriately certified teachers by the state department of education for the age group and classes they teach. This requirement shall include any on-grounds schools. (c) When children in residence attend a school off-grounds and when transportation to and from school is not provided by the school, the child caring institution shall provide suitable transportation for the children. (d) The child caring institution shall work with the placing agency, parent, or guardian to ensure that the child's education plan is in compliance with the Indiana school attendance laws. (e) The child caring institution shall have and follow a written plan for meeting the educational needs of children who are unable to attend public school.
