LAC 40:I.3711. Vehicle Modifications

A. The carrier/self-insured employer will authorize modifications to vehicles only on the basis of medical necessity. Modifications will be limited to the following: 1. installation of hand controls; and 2. van modifications when transfers into and out of a sedan type vehicle are not possible. B. The carrier/self-insured employer cannot purchase vehicles, but can provide for modifications to an existing vehicle or to a vehicle purchased by the claimant.
