Year: 2026Length: 155 wordsOfficial source
Visitors are expected to conduct and dress themselves in a manner that is appropriate for a public place. No visitor may give or exchange any article of clothing or any other items with an incarcerated or civilly committed individual during a visit. The Department's Visitor Dress Code applies to all visitors (adults and children) and is available at www.mass.gov/doc and in Attachment #6. If an admitting officer deems a prospective visitor to be in violation of the Visitor Dress Code, the officer shall immediately refer the matter to the Shift Commander for evaluation and a determination as to compliance. If the Shift Commander determines that the prospective visitor is in violation of the Visitor Dress Code, they may deny the visitor's entrance into the institution. The Shift Commander shall be the only staff member who may deny visitor entrance into an institution based upon a visitor's conduct or a violation of the Visitor Dress Code.
