Requirements of Primary Stroke Service or Endovascular Capable Stroke Service

(A) To be designated as a primary stroke service, a hospital must meet the criteria of a primary stroke center from a nationally recognized accrediting body and must receive certification as such by a nationally recognized accrediting body. The Department may set forth additional requirements for a hospital designated as a primary stroke service in Department guidelines. (B) To be designated as an endovascular capable stroke service, a hospital must meet the criteria of a thrombectomy capable stroke center or comprehensive stroke center from a nationally recognized accrediting body and must receive certification as such from a nationally recognized accrediting body. A hospital designated as an endovascular capable stroke service must have endovascular capabilities available at all times. The Department may set forth additional requirements for a hospital designated as an endovascular capable stroke service in Department guidelines.
