Ancillary Services and Support

Each SEF shall have: (A) on site basic diagnostic radiology available 24 hours per day; (B) the capability of performing on site basic laboratory testing with results available in less than one hour; (C) laboratory services capable of performing blood gas analysis and routine hematology and chemistry available 24 hours per day; (D) radiology services including CT scans and ultrasound with a clinically appropriate turnaround time from the ordering to the reporting of results; if done off-site the SEF must have in place appropriate transport protocols; and (E) plain film radiography available on site with technicians available 24 hours per day.
