DDU Staff Qualifications and Training

All correction officers, supervisors and managers assigned to the DDU shall be trained in accordance with standards and qualifications adopted by the Commissioner in consultation with the sheriffs and the Department of Mental Health and shall comport with the requirements set forth in 103 DOC 216: Training and Staff Development. Training should include but not be limited to suicide prevention, trauma informed care, crisis intervention, de-escalation, signs and symptoms of mental illness, co-occurring disorders, emergency response, code 99, fire exits, restraints, IMS entries, counts, showers, medication, recreation, phones, rounds, pyramid of force, unit structure/operations, post orders, and interpersonal communications.
