STATE OF MARYLAND MARYLAND INSURANCE ADMINISTRATION 525 St. Paul Place, Baltimore, Maryland 21202-2272 To: Select Private Passenger Automobile Insurers and Homeowners Insurers Re: Suspension of the 2004 Multi State Credit Scoring Data Call Date: August 9, 2004 Bulletin: Property and Casualty 04- 17 ***************************************************************************** Effective immediately, the Maryland Insurance Administration (โ€œthe MIAโ€) has suspended indefinitely the 2004 Multi State Credit Scoring Data Call issued under Property and Casualty Bulletin 04-9, dated May 24, 2004. This data call has been suspended indefinitely pending a study by the Federal Trade Commission ("FTC") and the Federal Reserve Board pursuant to Section 215 of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions (FACT) Act. The MIA will participate in this study through the National Association of Insurance Commissioners ("NAIC") and its collaborative efforts with the FTC study. Therefore, insurers may cease their data collection efforts for the MIA data call. Any data that has already been collected no longer needs to be submitted to the MIA by August 31, 2004. However, it is recommended that any data the insurer has collected be held as this data may be required by the FTC study or any future Maryland study. This suspension is further predicated upon the participation of insurers in the federal study and a satisfactory conclusion to the FTC study. However, in the event such participation does not occur, the MIA reserves the right to reinstate Bulletin 04-9 and require insurers to submit the requested data at a future date.
