These new regulations became effective January 1, 2010. COMAR 31.05.12 provides that any property and casualty insurance company doing business in the State that is required to file a Statement of Actuarial Opinion with the Administration shall also file an Actuarial Opinion Summary (AOS). The AOS shall be filed in accordance with the NAIC's Property and Casualty Annual Statement Instructions. Previously, in accordance with MIA Bulletin 06-06, the Administration annually notified applicable property and casualty insurance companies if they were required to file an AOS. Due to the adoption of COMAR 31.05.12, the Administration hereby rescinds Bulletin 06-06. Property and casualty insurance companies should now follow the requirements of COMAR 31.05.12 regarding the filing of an AOS.
