Rule 1913. (1) An employer shall be able to demonstrate that an employee is trained and qualified to operate the equipment prior to authorizing the employee to operate the equipment. A permit system may be used to comply with this rule. (2) An employee assigned to operate a crawler, locomotive, or truck crane shall have his or her ability to meet the minimum requirements in this rule verified not less than every 3 years.
