Guidelines for Use of Handicapped Parking Cones

PURPOSE: This rule establishes guidelines for the use of handicapped parking cones. (1) Any person who is issued disabled person license plates or a removable windshield placard and who uses a wheelchair or transports a person who uses a wheelchair, may utilize a parking cone bearing the international symbol of accessibility and the words “wheelchair parking space.” (2) Parking cones shall be predominantly orange, fluorescent red-orange or fluorescent yellow-orange, not less than eighteen inches (18") in height and shall be made of a material that can be struck without damaging vehicles on impact. (3) Any cone that conforms to the requirements of this provision will be sufficient for use by such person without further authorization from the director.
