Existing study material used to prepare for the examination administered by the Mississippi Insurance Department will no longer prepare an applicant to pass the new exam. This notice applies only to those persons who must complete the professional bail agent's exam and does not apply to applicants applying for a first time soliciting bail agent nor bail enforcement agent's license. Outline of Subject matters to be included in the Mississippi Insurance Department professional bail agent's examination: I. Terminology- A glossary of terms and definitions used in bail bonds and the legal system. II. The use of "bail" as provided under the Constitution of the United States and Mississippi law. III. An explanation of "surety", "civil action" and how it relates to the legal process. IV. Contracts and how it applies to bail bonds. V. Requirements for becoming a professional bail agent and the regulation of bail bonds through the Mississippi Insurance Department. VI. State and Federal courts and their jurisdiction in the bail process. VII. Arrest and release procedures as provided under Mississippi and Federal law. VIII. Writing and underwriting bail as a professional bail agent. IX. Types of collateral and suggested methods for accepting, holding and returning collateral. X. Discharging of the bond and surrendering the defendant. XI. Forfeitures and Judgements against the defendant and bail agent. XII. "Skiptracing" and arresting the defendant. XIII.
