Statutory Authority During the 2023 Regular Legislative Session, the Mississippi Legislature passed Senate Bill 2228, which creates a regulatory framework for the sale, issuance and renewals of pet insurance policies, (hereinafter “Act”). Section 5 of the Act gives the Commissioner the authority to establish rules and regulations establishing policy disclosures, policy conditions, sales practices for the sale of wellness programs, and the ability to establish penalties for violations of any law or regulation regarding the sale of pet insurance.
