Installation Inspection Procedure
Rule3.05-1: Scheduling of the Inspection
A. For all new or used residential Factory-Built modular homes involving a retailer, the
retailer is required to, within three (3) business days prior to the installation of any
factory-built modular home, submit by e-mail, facsimile, or priority mail, a properly
completed and signed Modular Home Property Locator/Certificate of Installation form
(see Appendix B, herein) to the Factory-Built Home Division of the State Fire Marshal’s
Office. Directions included on or with the Property Locator form will provide
information on the exact location where the home has been installed. Following the
installation of the modular home, the installer shall be required to install the inspection
decal, obtained from the retailer, on or near the electrical breaker panel cover, take a
photograph of the installed decal and take photographs of the end walls of the multi-
section modular home showing the serial number of the home and the measured width
of the marriage line gap at the widest point for submission to the Factory-Built Home
Division of the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
B. For secondary sitings not involving a retailer, the installer/transporter is required to,
within three (3) business days prior to the installation of any factory-built modular
home, submit by e-mail, facsimile, or priority mail, a properly completed and signed
Modular Home Property Locator/Certificate of Installation form (see Appendix B,
herein) to the Factory-Built Home Division of the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Directions included on or with the Property Locator form will provide information on
the exact location where the home has been installed. Following the installation of the
modular home, the installer shall be required to install the inspection decal on or near
the electrical breaker panel cover, take a photograph of the installed decal and take
photographs of the end walls of the multi-section modular home showing the serial
number of the home and the measured width of the marriage line gap at the widest point
for submission to the Factory-Built Home Division of the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
C. Periodic inspections of the installed factory-built modular home shall be scheduled to
occur within seven (7) to ten (10) business days following the receipt of the Installation
Decal and end wall gap photographs from the retailer, the developer and/or the
installer/transporter. Resource and manpower shortages within the Division will require
adjustments to the time frame for completing the received and assigned inspections.
