Definition of Childhood Disability
A. An individual under the age of eighteen (18) is considered disabled under the Supplemental
Security Income program if that child has a medically determinable physical or mental
disability that results in marked and severe functional limitation and that can be expected to
result in death or that has lasted or can be expected to last for a continuous period of at least
twelve (12) months.
B. No individual under the age of eighteen (18) who engages in substantial gainful activity may
be considered disabled.
