Disability Determination Process In Mississippi, an application for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is also an application for Medicaid. If the only application for Medicaid is filed with the Social Security Administration (SSA) for SSI benefits, the applicant is required to wait until SSA makes the SSI determination to receive the Medicaid decision. The SSA disability determination is binding on the Division of Medicaid.
