Applicant Fingerprint Processing Unit The Applicant Fingerprint Processing Unit is responsible for processing applicant background checks by fingerprints. The fingerprint cards are submitted to the Unit which performs a state check and then forwards the card to the FBI for a nationwide check. Results are submitted to the requesting state agency for a determination of fitness for employment.
