More than one amendment to an item: Once an amendment of an item is made on a birth certificate, that item shall not be amended again unless a court order is received from a court of competent jurisdiction within the state of Mississippi. Note: The witnessed statement giving a child a non-traditional surname, filed with the birth certificate by the facility of birth, is not considered an amendment to the name item.
