Medical Certification of Unfitness for Employment

Medical Certification of Unfitness for Employment.
MDHS will consider an individual to be medically certified as physically or mentally unfit for
employment if he or she:
A. Receives temporary or permanent disability benefits issued by the government or private
sources;
B. Is obviously mentally or physically unfit for employment as determined by MDHS;
C. If the unfitness is not obvious, a statement from a physician, physician’s assistant, nurse,
nurse practitioner, licensed or certified psychologist, social worker or other medical
professional must be provided to MDHS that indicates that the individual is physically or
mentally unfit for employment.
