Unaccompanied Refugee Minor Program โ International minor victims without a
parent or legal guardian in the U.S. may be eligible for services under the
Unaccompanied Refugee Minors (URM) program. The Administration for Children
and Familiesโ Office of Refugee Resettlement determines whether a child is eligible
for the URM program. A child victim of trafficking with an Eligibility Letter who
has no available parent or legal guardian in the United States may be eligible for the
URM program.
A URM child in Mississippi will be placed in a therapeutic foster home or group
home setting according to individual needs and services required after adjudication
by the appropriate court.
URM children can receive intensive case management, education, health care,
mental health counseling, independent living skills training, assistance with family
reunification and repatriation, and other services until they turn 18 or such higher
age, as set forth in the foster care rules of the state.
