(1) A fourth-grade student at the advanced level of media literacy demonstrates superior performance. He/she: (a) consistently recognizes that media messages are constructed; (b) effectively creates compelling media messages and completes detailed evaluation of strengths and weaknesses; (c) displays extensive understanding of the use of media for a variety of purposes and the ways media have changed; and (d) identifies and clearly describes media's influences and rules, and easily distinguishes among fact, fiction, and opinion.
