ARM 10.111.101. ORGANIZATIONAL RULE

(1) The Montana Arts Council was established by executive order in 1965 and codified by the Montana Legislature in 1967 under 22-2-101, MCA. The council is allocated to the Board of Education for administrative purposes under 2-15-1511, MCA.
(2) The council’s mission is to develop the creative potential of all Montanans, advance education, spur economic vibrancy, and revitalize communities through the arts. This work is done through grants, programs, trainings, community outreach, and other activities developed from public comment.
(3) Grant guidelines are established by the council. Grant guidelines may vary from program to program, as appropriate to the goals, purposes, and restrictions of each grant. Guidelines may be updated or amended as the council deems necessary. Guidelines and submission deadlines are publicly available on the council’s website, https://art.mt.gov.
(4) In addition to state funds, the council also has authority to manage and distribute federal and private funds in pursuit of its mission.
(5) Additionally, the council may form other committees and advisory panels as needed to achieve its goals, provide for public input, and conduct general business.
