Verifications and demonstration of competence

1. A physician, registered nurse, occupational therapist, physical therapist, or other individual with a professional degree in specialized areas of care shall verify in writing, on forms furnished by the department, that a direct service provider employee is competent to perform each procedure specified in subsection 2 of section 75-03-21.1-29. Verification that a direct service provider employee is competent to perform a procedure is evidence of competence with respect to that procedure. 2. Competence may be demonstrated in the following ways: a. A demonstration of the procedure being performed; b. A detailed verbal explanation of the procedure; or c. A detailed written explanation of the procedure.
