39-04-39.4. Refund of registration fees Any owner of a motor vehicle, if such motor vehicle is returned to the manufacturer under the provisions of chapter 51-07, may claim a refund in the amount equal to the unused portion of the fee upon the vehicle, computed pro rata by the month, one-twelfth of the annual fee paid for each month of the registration period remaining after the month in which the vehicle was returned, provided the number plates and validation tabs issued for the vehicle are returned to the department.
