43-29-13.1. Practice of veterinary medicine - Exceptions for recognized animal services. 1. The provision of a recognized animal service does not constitute the practice of veterinary medicine if provided by an individual who is not a veterinarian or veterinary technician and not otherwise excepted from the practice of veterinary medicine under section 43-29-13. 2. For purposes of this section, "recognized animal service" means: a. Grooming; b. Training or conditioning; c. Horseshoeing or farrier work; d. Massage therapy or acupressure; e. Microchip implantation; and f. An accepted livestock management practice. 3. This section does not permit an individual who is not a veterinarian to diagnose, prescribe, or perform surgical procedures, other than surgical procedures considered to be an accepted livestock management practice. 4. The exceptions provided under this section do not extend to any other animal services.
