13-09.1-41. Civil penalties The commissioner may assess a civil penalty against a person that violates this chapter or a rule adopted or an order issued under this chapter in an amount not to exceed one thousand dollars per day for each day that the violation is outstanding, plus this state's costs and expenses for the investigation and prosecution of the matter, including reasonable attorney's fees. Each transaction in violation of this chapter and each day that a violation continues is a separate violation. A civil money penalty collected under this section must be paid to the department of financial institutions and deposited in the financial institutions regulatory fund.
