471 NAC 20-016. PAYMENT LIMITATIONS

016. PAYMENT LIMITATIONS. Payment for psychiatric services for beneficiaries age 21 and older under Nebraska Medicaid is limited to payment for medically necessary psychiatric services for medically necessary primary psychiatric diagnoses. 016.01 CHRONIC OR CUSTODIAL. Nebraska Medicaid does not pay for psychiatric services that are chronic or custodial. Psychiatric services may be covered when treating an acute exacerbation of a long-term or chronic condition. The provider must document medical necessity and active treatment for each beneficiary . Documentation is kept in the beneficiary’s medical record. Nebraska Medicaid does not reimburse for services for diagnoses of developmental disabilities, or V codes as part of this chapter.
