[Related Statewide Rule 23-109 NMRA] Beginning in 2013, every third year in the month of May, the district judges of the fifth judicial district shall, by a majority vote, elect the chief judge. In each successive term, the county of the chief judge shall rotate in the following order: Eddy, Chaves, Lea. If all the judges of a county decline to serve as chief judge, it shall rotate to the next county. In the event of a vacancy in the office of the chief judge, the district judges shall, by majority vote, elect one of their number to serve for the remainder of the term. All administrative matters of the district shall be accomplished by the chief judge through the district court administrator’s office in Roswell, New Mexico.
