UJI 13-1832. Nominal damages.
If you find that __________________ (plaintiff) has established a right to recover
from __________________ (defendant) but that __________________ (plaintiff) has
suffered [no harm], [insignificant harm], [or] [damages that cannot be ascertained], you
may award __________________ (plaintiff) nominal damages. Nominal damages are a
trivial sum of money, usually one cent or one dollar, awarded to a party who has
established a right to recover but has not established that the party is entitled to
compensatory damages.
