[Extensions, branches, sidings and switches of foreign

companies; eminent domain.] Any railroad company organized under the laws of another state or territory, which, by a compliance with the laws of this state relating to foreign railroad companies, has purchased or may purchase a line of railroad constructed by another company within this state, may extend such line of railroad, and project and build branches to the same, and sidetracks and switches connecting therewith, and otherwise improve the same, and for such purpose exercise the right of eminent domain to the same extent and in like manner as may be done by a domestic railroad corporation. And any railroad company organized under the laws of this state shall also have the right to extend its line of railroad, to project and build branches, sidetracks and switches, to improve the same and to exercise the right of eminent domain in acquiring lands, right-of-way and other privileges therefor to the same extent as provided by law for the main line of such railroad.
