Rule 21 . Assignment of criminal cases.

(a) Subject to the provisions of this rule, all criminal cases with defendants whose last names begin with letters A through K shall be assigned to Department A, and all criminal cases with defendants whose last names begin with letters L through Z shall be assigned to Department B. If multiple defendants are named in a complaint, the case shall be assigned according to the last name of the first-named defendant listed on the complaint. (b) If a justice of the peace has recused himself or herself or has been disqualified, the case will be assigned to the other justice of the peace. If both justices of the peace for Pahrump Township have recused themselves or been disqualified, the case will be assigned to a visiting justice of the peace. (c) When the transfer of a case to another department is necessary, it shall be the primary responsibility of the transferring judge and his or her staff to arrange the transfer to the other department.
