Bulletin 08-014 November 18, 2008 Replaces Nevada Bulletin 08-013 CARD CONSTITUTING EVIDENCE OF MOTOR VEHICLE LIABILITY INSURANCE The Division has approved the ACORD 51 NV form that can be used as a temporary auto insurance identification card in compliance with the provisions of NAC 690B.060. This form, ACORD 51 NV (2008/11), is scheduled for release on November 26, 2008 by ACORD. In order to allow time for rate service organizations and insurers to submit filings, obtain approval, distribute and implement temporary and permanent auto liability identification cards, insurers and agents may continue to use the ACORD 50 NV form through January 25, 2009. Form ACORD 50 NV will not be allowed in Nevada as of 12:01 a.m. on January 26, 2009. Insurers required to provide evidence of motor vehicle liability insurance to an insured, pursuant to the requirements of NRS 690B.023 and NAC 690B.060, must file their own evidence of insurance card with the Division. The card must contain a logotype or other marking that identifies the company. A generic card provided by a rate service organization with a nonspecific watermark (such as the word “Nevada”) may only be used as a temporary auto insurance identification card. Insurers that have filed and approved auto liability identification cards with a company logo do not need to refile their cards.
