“Direct supervision” interpreted.

For the purposes of NRS 631.3122 , the Board will interpret “direct supervision” to mean supervision by a dentist where the dentist: 1. Documents in the record of the patient the name of the dental therapist providing care to the patient; 2. Examines the patient before the dental therapist performs the procedure either face-to-face or by the use of electronic means; 3. Provides instructions for treating the patient before the dental therapist begins treating the patient; and 4. Examines the patient upon completion of the procedures performed by the dental therapist.
