General requirements.

An approved program must enable each trainee to: 1. Learn to react in a sensitive manner to the emotional, social and mental health needs of patients. 2. Communicate and interact competently on a one-to-one basis with patients. 3. Assist patients in attaining and maintaining independence. 4. Learn to exhibit behavior in support and promotion of the rights of patients. 5. Learn skills in observation and documentation.
