Circular Letter No. 18 (2000) May 26, 2000 TO: The Insurance Community of New York State; Other Parties Affected by Insurance Department Circular Letters RE: Circular Letter Review The Insurance Department is presently reviewing all Circular Letters that have been issued by the Department and will withdraw all those that were issued prior to April 1, 1997 unless it is determined that the continuation of such Circular Letters is consistent with current Department practice and policy. Some Circular Letters are ministerial in nature, some call for various kinds of insurer performance (e.g., the submission of data or schedules or statements of compliance), and others are substantive in nature. Many Circular Letters have been made obsolete as a result of the passage of time or because of changes in policy at the Department. To assist the Department in this review, all parties directly or indirectly affected by any Department Circular Letter should identify, with justification, those Circular Letters that should not be withdrawn as a result of this review. Please provide your comments by July 1, 2000 to: Kevin M. Rampe Senior Deputy Superintendent & General Counsel New York State Insurance Department 25 Beaver Street New York, NY 10004 Very truly yours, Neil D. Levin Superintendent of Insurance
