Electronic Appointment Notice

CARROLL FISHER INSURANCE COMMISSIONER State of Oklahoma This mailing consists of 2 (two) notices First Notice: June 1, 2003 TO: All Insurers Licensed to Transact Business in Oklahoma FROM: Carroll Fisher, Insurance Commissioner SUBJECT: Electronic Appointment/Termination of Insurance Producers EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 1, 2003, THE OKLAHOMA INSURANCE DEPARTMENT WILL ONLY ACCEPT INSURANCE PRODUCER APPOINTMENTS AND TERMINATIONS ELECTRONICALLY. The Oklahoma Insurance Department already accepts electronic appointments/terminations of insurance producers through the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) and its authorized business partners. In order to take full advantage of the electronic processing of appointments and terminations, effective September 1, 2003, the OID will only accept producer appointments or terminations electronically. We are in process of acquiring the ability to receive Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). This will allow OID to make the appointment effective the day it is received electronically. Any paper appointments or terminations received by OID after September 1, 2003, will be returned. Exception: OID is making an exception to this requirement for those companies that annually appoint and terminate 25 or fewer producers. Any company that does not meet the foregoing exception and feels it will be unable to meet the September 1, 2003, requirement date should contact Phil Marsh and provide adequate documentation as to the inability to comply and request an extension.
