Hoistway-door and car-door or gate electric contacts shall conform to the following: 1. They shall be positively opened by a level or other device attached to and operated by the door or gate. 2. They sahll be maintained in the opened position by the action of gravity or by a restrained compression spring, or by both, or by positive mechanical means. 3. Hoistway-door electric-contacts systems employing a single master switch for more than one door are prohibited. (See also Rules 111.3b - 4c and 111.4c-4c).
