Bumpers. Solid bumpers shall be made of wood or other suitable resilient material of sufficient strength to withstand without failure the impact of the car with rated load or the counterweight, descending at one hundred and fifteen (115) per cent of rated speed. The material used shall be of a type which will resist deterioration or be so treated as to resist deterioration. USAS A17.1
