Auxiliary rope-fastening devices, designed to support elevator cars or counterweights if any regular rope fastening fails, may be provided subject to the following requirements: a. They shall be approved by the enforcing authority on the basis of adequate tensile and fatigue tests made by a competent designated laboratory. b. The device and its fastenings, in its several parts and assembly, shall have a strength at least equal to that of the manufacturer's breaking strength of the rope to which it is to be attached. C. Steel parts used in the device shall be cast or forged with an elongation of not less than twenty (20) per cent, conforming to A.S.T.M., Specifications A235-63T, Class C, for forgings and A27-62, Grade 60/30 for cast steel, and shall be stress relieved. - 142 TEXTO EN ESPAÑOL USAS, A17.1 (a) El metal es visible en el extremo pequeño
