The car ends, or the car or counterweight dead ends where multiple roping is used, of all suspension wire ropes of traction type elevators shall be provided with shackle rods of a design which will permit individual adjustment of the rope lengths. Similar shackle rods shall be provided on the car or counterweight ends of compensating ropes. 212.9c - General Design Requirements.
