b. The tops of the looped strands of the rope are just visible above the surface of the babbitt. Where rope with steel core is used, the steel core shall also be visible above the surface of the babbitt. C. The entire loop of any strand is not visible above the surface of the babbitt. d. No loss of rope lay has occured where the wire rope enters the basket. Babbitted socket which do not conform to the above requirements shall be rejected and the rope resocketed.
