Insurance Producer, Adjuster, Appraiser and Surplus Line Broker Licenses

Department of Business Regulation Insurance Division 1511 Pontiac Avenue, Bldg. 69-2 Cranston, Rhode Island 02920 Insurance Bulletin Number 2009-2 Insurance Producer, Adjuster, Appraiser and Surplus Line Broker Licenses Beginning March 15, 2009, the Division of Insurance will no longer be mailing hard copies of licenses issued to insurance producers, adjusters, appraisers and surplus line brokers. To determine the current status of any licensee please check www.statebasedsystems.com or the Department’s website at https://dbr.ri.gov/ (insurance licensee verification look-up service). It is incumbent upon the licensee to verify and keep track of his/her license expiration date and renew the license as required. The Department will continue to send renewal notices by regular mail; only the mailing of the hard copy license is being discontinued. The screen print from these databases will include the date of the report and a statement “This document may serve in lieu of a Letter of Certification.” Insurers may rely upon the screen printout for license status and may utilize the screen print as indicated in 230-RICR-20-60-4.7. If a licensee needs a hard copy of his or her license it will be provided upon request.
