Section 1
Authority
In accordance with R.I. Gen. Laws §§ 42-35-3 (a), 27-10-7, 27-3-48.1, and 27-
10.1-1 (c), the following Regulation relating to the term of initial licensure and
subsequent renewal of licenses of insurance agents, sub-agents, agents for fraternal
benefit societies, brokers, motor vehicle damage appraisers, claim adjusters and solicitors
is hereby promulgated:
Section 2
Applicability
This Regulation shall apply to insurance agents, sub-agents, agents for fraternal
benefit societies, brokers, motor vehicle damage appraisers, claim adjusters and
solicitors.
This Regulation shall not apply to such other persons as may in the future be
exempted therefrom by the Insurance Commissioner.
Nothing in this Regulation is intended to abrogate or supersede statutory
requirements relative to the categories of persons and/or entities delineated above.

Term of Initial Licensure and Subsequent Renewal of Licenses
A.
Life Insurance Agents and Sub-Agents
Existing licenses for agents and sub-agents for life insurance companies
shall remain in force until the first day of April, 1988, and shall be
renewable thereafter on a tri-annual basis upon payment of the sum of
fifteen ($15.00) dollars in the aggregate to and for the use of the State.
Initial licenses for agents and sub-agents for life insurance companies
issued prior to the first day of April, 1988, shall remain in force until the
first day of April, 1988, upon the payment of a pro rata share of the sum of
ten ($10.00) dollars in the aggregate to and for the use of the State, and
shall be renewable thereafter on a tri-annual basis upon payment of the
sum of fifteen ($15.00) dollars in the aggregate to and for the use of the
State. Initial licenses for agents and subagents for life insurance
companies issued subsequent to the first day of April, 1988, shall remain
in force until the next renewal date for then existing licenses upon the
payment of a pro rata share of the sum of fifteen ($15.00) dollars in the
aggregate to and for the use of the State, and shall be renewable thereafter
on a triannual basis upon the payment of the sum of fifteen ($15.00)
dollars in the aggregate to and for the use of the State.
B.
Agents and Sub-Agents for Fraternal Benefit Societies
Existing licenses for agents and sub-agents for fraternal benefit societies
shall remain in force until the 31st day of December, 1988, and shall be
renewable thereafter on a tri-annual basis upon payment of the sum of
fifteen ($15.00) dollars in the aggregate to and for the use of the State.
Initial licenses for agents and sub-agents for fraternal benefit societies,
issued prior to the 31st day of December, 1988, shall remain in force until
the 31st day of December, 1988, upon the payment of a pro rata share of
the sum of ten ($10.00) dollars in the aggregate to and for the use of the
State, and shall be renewable thereafter on a tri-annual basis upon payment
of the sum of fifteen ($15.00) dollars in the aggregate to and for the use of
the State. Initial licenses for agents and sub-agents for fraternal benefit
societies, issued subsequent to the 31st day of December, 1988, shall
remain in force until the next renewal date for then-existing licenses upon
the payment of a pro rata share of the sum of fifteen ($15.00) dollars in the
aggregate to and for the use of the State, and shall be renewable thereafter
on a tri-annual basis upon the payment of the sum of fifteen ($15.00)
dollars in the aggregate to and for the use of the State.

Property, Casualty or Surety Agents and Sub-Agents

Existing licenses for agents and sub-agents for property, casualty or surety
insurance companies shall remain in force until the first day of April,
1989, and shall be renewable thereafter on a tri-annual basis upon payment
of the sum of fifteen ($15.00) dollars in the aggregate to and for the use of
the State. Initial licenses for agents and sub-agents for property, casualty
or surety insurance companies, issued prior to the first day of April, 1989,
shall remain in force until the first day of April, 1989, upon the payment
of a pro rata share of the sum of ten ($10.00) dollars in the aggregate to
and for the use of the State, and shall be renewable thereafter on a tri-
annual basis upon payment of the sum of fifteen ($15.00) dollars in the
aggregate to and for the use of the State. Initial licenses for agents and
sub-agents for property, casualty or surety insurance companies, issued
subsequent to the first day of April, 1989, shall remain in force until the
next renewal date for then-existing licenses upon the payment of a pro rata
share of the sum of fifteen ($15.00) dollars in the aggregate to and for the
use of the State, and shall be renewable thereafter on a tri-annual basis
upon the payment of the sum of fifteen ($15.00) dollars in the aggregate to
and for the use of the State.
D.
Brokers
Existing licenses for brokers shall remain in force until the 30th day of
June, 1988, and shall be renewable thereafter for one (1) year period(s),
through and including the 30th day of June, 1990, upon the payment of the
sum of fifty ($50.00) dollars per annum to and for the use of the State.
Initial licenses for brokers issued prior to the 30th day of June, 1988, shall
remain in force until the 30th day of June, 1988, upon the payment of the
sum of fifty ($50.00) dollars to and for the use of the State, and shall be
renewable thereafter for one (1) year period(s), through and including the
30th day of June, 1990, upon the payment of the sum of fifty ($50.00)
dollars per annum to and for the use of the State. Initial licenses for
brokers issued subsequent to the 30th day of June, 1988, but prior to the
30th day of June, 1989 shall remain in force until the 30th day of June,
1989, upon the payment of the sum of fifty ($50.00) dollars to and for the
use of the State, and shall be renewable thereafter through and including
the 30th day of June, 1990, for a one (1) year period upon the payment of
the sum of fifty ($50.00) dollars to and for the use of the State. Initial
licenses for brokers issued subsequent to the 30th day of June, 1989, but
prior to the 30th day of June, 1990, shall remain in force until the 30th day
of June, 1990, upon the payment of the sum of fifty ($50.00) dollars to and
for the use of the State. Effective the 30th day of June, 1990, existing
licenses for brokers shall remain in force until the 30th day of June, 1990,
and shall be renewable thereafter on a tri-annual basis upon the payment
of the sum of one hundred fifty ($150.00) dollars in the aggregate to and
for the use of the State. Initial licenses for brokers, issued subsequent to
the 30th day of June, 1990, shall remain in force until the next renewal

date for then-existing licenses upon the payment of a pro rata share of the
sum of one hundred fifty ($150.00) dollars in the aggregate to and for the
use of the State, and shall be renewable thereafter on a tri-annual basis
upon the payment of the sum of one hundred fifty ($150.00) dollars in the
aggregate to and for the use of the State.
E.
Claim Adjusters
Existing licenses for claim adjusters shall remain in force until the 31st
day of August, 1988, and shall be renewable thereafter for one (1) year
period(s), through and including the 31st day of August, 1990, upon the
payment of the sum of fifty ($50.00) dollars per annum to and for the use
of the State. Initial licenses for claim adjusters issued prior to the 31st day
of August, 1988, shall remain in force until the 31st day of August, 1988,
upon the payment of the sum of fifty ($50.00) dollars to and for the use of
the State, and shall be renewable thereafter for one (1) year period(s),
through and including the 31st day of August, 1990, upon the payment of
the sum of fifty ($50.00) dollars per annum to and for the use of the State.
Initial licenses for claim adjusters issued subsequent to the 31st day of
August, 1988, but prior to the 31st day of August, 1989, shall remain in
force until the 31st day of August, 1989, upon the payment of the sum of
fifty ($50.00) dollars to and for the use of the State and shall be renewable
thereafter through and including the 31st day of August, 1990, for a one
(1) year period upon the payment of the sum of fifty ($50.00) dollars to
and for the use of the State. Initial licenses for claim adjusters issued
subsequent to the 31st day of August, 1989, but prior to the 31st day of
August, 1990, shall remain in force until the 31st day of August, 1990,
upon the payment of the sum of fifty ($50.00) dollars to and for the use of
the State. Effective the 31st day of August, 1990, existing licenses for
claim adjusters shall remain in force until the 31st day of August, 1990,
and shall be renewable thereafter on a tri-annual basis upon payment of
the sum of one hundred fifty ($150.00) dollars in the aggregate to and for
the use of the State. Initial licenses for claim adjusters, issued subsequent
to the 31st day of August, 1990, shall remain in force until the next
renewal date for then-existing licenses upon the payment of a pro rata
share of the sum of one hundred fifty ($150.00) dollars in the aggregate to
and for the use of the State, and shall be renewable thereafter on a tri-
annual basis upon the payment of the sum of one hundred fifty ($150.00)
dollars in the aggregate to and for the use of the State.

F.
Motor Vehicle Damage Appraisers
Existing licenses for motor vehicle damage appraisers shall remain in
force until the 31st day of August, 1988, and shall be renewable thereafter
for one (1) year period(s), through and including the 31st day of August,
1990, upon the payment of the sum of fifty ($50.00) dollars per annum to
and for the use of the State. Initial licenses for motor vehicle damage
appraisers issued prior to the 31st day of August, 1988, shall remain in
force until the 31st day of August, 1988, upon the payment of the sum of
fifty ($50.00) dollars to and for the use of the State, and shall be renewable
thereafter for one (1) year period(s), through and including the 31st day of
August, 1990, upon the payment of the sum of fifty ($50.00) dollars per
annum to and for the use of the State. Initial licenses for motor vehicle
damage appraisers issued subsequent to the 31st day of August, 1988, but
prior to the 31st day of August, 1989, shall remain in force until the 31st
day of August, 1989, upon the payment of the sum of fifty ($50.00) dollars
to and for the use of the State, and shall be renewable thereafter through
and including the 31st day of August, 1990 for a one (1) year period upon
the payment of the sum of fifty ($50.00) dollars to and for the use of the
State. Initial licenses for motor vehicle damage appraisers issued
subsequent to the 31st day of August, 1989, but prior to the 31st day of
August, 1990, shall remain in force until the 31st day of August, 1990,
upon the payment of the sum of fifty ($50.00) dollars to and for the use of
the State. Effective the 31st day of August, 1990, existing licenses for
motor vehicle damage appraisers shall remain in force until the 31st day of
August, 1990, and shall be renewable thereafter on a tri-annual basis upon
the payment of the sum of one hundred fifty ($150.00) dollars in the
aggregate to and for the use of the State. Initial licenses for motor vehicle
damage appraisers, issued subsequent to the 31st day of August, 1990,
shall remain in force until the next renewal date for then-existing licenses
upon the payment of a pro rata share of the sum of one hundred fifty
($150.00) dollars in the aggregate to and for the use of the State, and shall
be renewable thereafter on a tri-annual basis upon the payment of the sum
of one hundred fifty ($150.00) dollars in the aggregate to and for the use
of the State.
G.
Solicitors
Existing licenses for solicitors shall remain in force until the 31st day of
August, 1988, and shall be renewable thereafter for one (1) year period(s),
through and including the 31st day of August, 1990, upon the payment of
the sum of ten ($10.00) dollars per annum to and for the use of the State.
Initial licenses for solicitors issued prior to the 31st day of August, 1988,
shall remain in force until the 31st day of August, 1988, upon the payment
of the sum of ten ($10.00) dollars to and for the use of the State and shall
be renewable thereafter, for one (1) year period(s), through and including

the 31st day of August, 1990, upon the payment of the sum of ten ($10.00)
dollars per annum to and for the use of the State. Initial licenses for
solicitors issued subsequent to the 31st day of August, 1988, but prior to
the 31st day of August, 1989, shall remain in force until the 31st day of
August, 1989, upon the payment of the sum of ten ($10.00) dollars to and
for the use of the State, and shall be renewable thereafter, through and
including the 31st day of August, 1990, for a one (1) year period upon the
payment of the sum of ten ($10.00) dollars to and for the use of the State.
Initial licenses for solicitors issued subsequent to the 31st day of August,
1989, but prior to the 31st day of August, 1990, shall remain in force until
the 31st day of August, 1990, upon the payment of the sum of ten ($10.00)
dollars to and for the use of the State. Effective the 31st day of August,
1990, existing licenses for solicitors shall remain in force until the 31st
day of August, 1990, and shall be renewable thereafter on a tri-annual
basis upon the payment of the sum of thirty ($30.00) dollars in the
aggregate to and for the use of the State. Initial licenses for solicitors,
issued subsequent to the 31st day of August, 1990, shall remain in force
until the next renewal date for then-existing licenses upon the payment of
a pro rata share of the sum of thirty ($30.00) dollars in the aggregate to
and for the use of the State, and shall be renewable thereafter on a tri-
annual basis upon the payment of the sum of thirty ($30.00) dollars in the
aggregate to and for the use of the State.
